Accepted File Types

Content must be less than 200mb! Large files will affect hardware and playback.

File types accepted as-is:

Still: .jpg, .png (both in RGB Color Profile)

Video: h.264 .mp4 (10 Mbps constant bit rate – cbr)

All other formats must be reformatted to the above specs and resolutions.

Profile and Level

Most encoders let you choose something called a profile and a level. These are pre-set categories that specify limitations on resolution, compression and bitrate.

General recommendations (H.264):

SD 480p: Main Profile, Level 3.1

HD 720p: Main Profile, Level 3.2

HD 1080p: High Profile, Level 4.1

4K 2160p: High Profile, Level 5.1

Additional Encoding Tips

Pixel Aspect: 1:1 (square).

Fields: Progressive (ie: not interlaced).

Closed GOP.

For H.264 encoding, use CAVLC (not CABAC) for best software decode performance.

Key Frames: Every 1 sec (30 frames).

Frame Rate: 30 fps

60 fps possible with high performance PC such as the ZI.1XRG

Audio: AAC 192-224 Kbps CBR, 44KHz or no audio at all if the screens will not have sound or no audio was in the source.

*If the encoded frame rate isn’t a match or multiple of the screen refresh rate, you may see stuttering on some videos, especially on horizontal motion. For example, content encoded 24 fps may stutter on screens that operate at 50 or 60 frames per second. This can be avoided by re-encoding the video with a frame rate that is equal or an even multiple of the screen. For example, 30 fps for a 60 fps screen.

Most Zero-In display solutions operate at 60 fps.

Tier X

The Tier-X screens are interactive. They run an “attract” playlist underneath the transparent interactive application that is activated by touch.

To update the attract content, use the “C032067_TierX_Touch_Attract Loop” playlist.

Content for Tier-X must be portrait, 1080×1920.

Precision Run Interactive

This interactive application is currently running at two clubs, Chestnut Hill and Santa Monica. Each have their own message version of the application in the top half of the screen. This has been populated with location specific class and trainer information. Both photos and text can be added to these and information can be edited in real time using the editable message.

The bottom frame is integrated to the online class schedule and updates automatically. If there are issues or requested changes on this please reach out to Zero-In.

Two messages can be edited to update these displays. These can be found in the Scala media library:

Santa Montica – Equinox_PR_Lab_Touch
Boston – Chestnut_Hill_PR_Lab

Edit under the “preview” tab of the message. Scroll through each page to access trainer profiles, class information, etc.
content for these messages must be 1080×960.

Precision Run Flatiron

Currently, this is a standard portrait display at one location linked to a single playlist titled “PRECISION_RUN_FLATIRON_PLAYLIST.” Content can be scheduled by adding or removing items to the playlist.

If there is interest in developing a new integration or interactive application for this please reach out to Zero-In.

Equifit

Currently, this is a standard portrait display at eight locations linked to a single playlist titled “Equifit Master Content.” Content can be scheduled by adding or removing items to the playlist.

If there is interest in developing a new integration or interactive application for this please reach out to Zero-In.

Project

The class schedules, music updates, and trainer info is all automated and pulled from outside sources via API.

The following playlists are editable and can be adjusted:

  • “PROJECT_ALPHA_HEADER_ANNOUNCEMENT” – top frame with text messages – these are editable and can be duplicated in the media library if more are needed. Duplicating them in the playlist will not make a new message, it will just add the same message twice. The template for these messages is titled “PROJECT_ALPHA_HEADER_ANNOUCEMENT.scb”
  • “PROJECT_ALPHA_CENTER_MEDIA_PLAYLIST” – square center frame 600×554.
  • “PROJECT_ALPHA_BOTTOM_MEDIA_PLAYLIST” – bottom most frame 600×453.This is a 600×3840 setup with several different layers, playlists, and integrations. It only located in one club.
