The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is the driving force that helps build a world where the rights of every child are realized. The United Nations (U.N.) created the organization in December 1946 to provide food, clothing and health care to European children facing famine after World War II. Since then, UNICEF has passionately carried out its mission to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path. In 1952, UNICEF became a permanent part of the UN and has since expanded its efforts to be an advocate for the health, education and rights of children across the globe.
When Zero-In was asked to provide a digital communications solution to UNICEF at the UN headquarters building in New York City, we were elated to help such a worthy organization.
The overall scope of the project was to install landscape digital signage displays on every floor of the building in high-traffic areas, including one street facing display for those walking by. The primary goal of the displays is to communicate relevant UNICEF and U.N. news and events to employees and visitors.
To make it easy for UNICEF to frequently update the content on its displays, Zero-In designed a series of online templates that can be edited in real time via a content manager provided by its partner, Scala. A pioneer in content management and distribution software, Scala has grown to become a monster in the category with more than 500,000 display systems worldwide. The brilliance of Scala’s content management system lies in the simplicity of its web-based platform that provides clients with “one-system”access to all their digital marketing and communication content with the most advanced functionality on the market.
Through the use of the Scala web-based content management system and digital templates created by Zero-In, UNICEF personnel have the ability to create new content for the digital signage displays at any time. Content can be created in a matter of minutes and begins playing on the screens immediately. This solution allows UNICEF to keep its digital content fresh and relevant at all times, thereby providing current information to its audience.
Zero-In is proud to have the opportunity to work with UNICEF and to help it spread the word about the important work it does. The digital communications system provided by Zero-In helps to raise awareness for UNICEF and its efforts to protect children and advance the cause of humanity.
