Melt Shop is a fast casual food service establishment specializing in home-cooked food and hand-spun milkshakes. Their signature products include gourmet grilled sandwiches, tater tots and their famous specialty milkshakes. Melt Shop needed digital menus boards in its newest locations to inform customers of product offerings and pricing, as well as to connect with their audience on an emotional level. With the two newest Melt Shop stores and plans for further expansion, the Melt Shop managers were looking for a digital content solution that would allow their dynamic menu boards to be easily updated at a moment’s notice. They also wanted to interact with and engage the shop’s patrons in a way that would set them apart from other restaurants in the highly competitive fast casual food service industry.
Zero-In provided a solution that addressed Melt Shop’s needs by installing a total of six digital displays in the new locations, making up two 3-screen-wide digital menu boards. The displays in Washington, DC are 40” each and the screens in Roosevelt Field Mall are 48” each. The digital menu boards are placed near the ordering area of each shop, making it easy for customers to review the menu and decide what they would like prior to ordering.
In addition to the actual displays, Zero-In also developed digital content and provided a central content management system. Because the items offered and prices vary across Melt Shop locations, Zero-In designed menu templates that can be updated in real-time over the internet, making it easy for Melt Shop employees to ensure the accuracy of each location’s menu. Zero-In’s in-house design team also designed custom marketing and branding content to engage Melt Shop customers, including food product imagery and social media hashtags.
